There are occasions when we really want Cracker Barrel. They have of country dishes you don't find elsewhere except maybe truck stops: country fried steak, fried okra, grits. It's not something you want to eat every day but sometimes I just need a cholesterol charge-up. Breakfasts are good. The kitsch country shop in front is always good for a laugh. Occasionally we find good stocking stuffers for our children there. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

This was my first time at a cracker barrel-I met a gal pal for breakfast. Food was okay--I had the blueberry pancakes. I did appreciate that they actually serve skim milk-most restaurants only have 2%. Just know that the path to get to the actual restaurant goes around and around and around and then around some more--it's not particularly clear how to get to it--it took me about 20 minutes to get to it and I live about 5 minutes from it.

Oh Cracker Barrel, how I heart thee....let me count the ways: 1. Your delicious country style breakfast that fills my little belly; from your casserole style hash browns to your plump hot cakes. 2. The "general" store that has everything but the usual keeps me entertained and intrigued every-time I walk through. 3. Then your lovely display of home-sweet-home rocking chairs lining the exterior walls. Out damn spot, out! 1. Service isn't ALWAYS consistent, but the wait staff for the most part are pleasant. 2. Why so stingy on the hash brown casserole? 6 forkfuls are just not enough! 3.There just somethin' ain't right about that coffee....

I love Cracker Barrel. The ambience is warm and cozy. It has a huge natural, woodburning fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. There are many rocking chairs outside if the restaurant to chill in. The best thing on the menu is their pancakes and slow roasted, melt in your mouth beef. They have a nice variety of quality beverages. The Friday fish is also good. This is good old homestyle country food. This is not diet friendly food. My favorite thing about Cracker Barrel is their country store. I always find something unique or old fashioned to buy. Their pancake mixes are the best ever! You will never have to make your own pancake mix again. I also, like to collect hand painted or glass dinner plates. I love how they mark down items after a couple of months. They have vintage toys and great kids Halloween costumes. They also have nice Xmas ornaments. There is usually a wait on holidays and weekend mornings. However, you won't notice when you're busy shopping in the cute country store. I would have given this restaurant five stars, but the coffee is just too weak. Apparently, it can't be changed. I have to admit that I am a coffee aficionado, so I must bring in my own travel cup! Also, skip the biscuits and scrambled eggs. The next time you are by a Cracker Barrel, check it out. You, too will become a fan!

Great place to take the family for breakfast, fast service. My favorite waitress no longer works there but she was amazing! Some of the wait staff is in dire need of some customer service training.

Cracker Barrel is an excellent chain. We love that we can go to any Cracker Barrel and get the same quality and delicious food. The other thing that we love is how our large family can eat out and not break the bank. We also don't have to worry if our kids are talking a little loud because the restaurant is kid friendly. I love how they have games on the table and coloring pages for the kids. We highly recommend Cracker Barrel as a family friendly restaurant.

Horribly slow, the mgrs are worse than the servers, I love cracker barrel but this one is a -10 on a 1-10 scale, the only time I ate at this cracker barrel I got food poisoning probably bc the food as cold!! Definitely a never again at this location but all other cracker barrels I've had are a solid 10

Where do I start....worst dining experience ever. We got our food luke warm waitress gave us our check before I could start eating. Went to pay the bill to come back and leave a tip. and before I could come back to the table. The waitress came back to the table with a group of people asking my friend if we were done with the table so the family could use it. Never have I been so appauled by a restaurant, and I'd like to think I'm easy to please.

In terms of restaurants, this is the best! They have great quality food, at great prices. Very cozy atmosphere. Smart building design. You may have to wait a few minutes to get a table, but while waiting you can walk around and browse through their shop at the front of the restaurant. Has lots of good stuff, from clothing to candy to decorations. The food is also alot healthier there than fast food and cheaper than at other restaurants.

I've been to Cracker Barrels in three different states and they have decent food. I've tried the biscuits and gravy, catfish and the meatloaf. What I remember most about this chain though is their country gift shop they have in the front of the restaurants.

I know it's a chain. But still, they make great food. I'm reviewing this location because it's the one I live by and go to the most often (i've been going here since I was little... when it opened). But, I must say, i've had the same quality and service at every location that i've been too. There is a wait sometimes, especially if you go at breakfast time. But, it's worth it to me. I always end up getting breakfast here. The food quality and quantity is always excellent. I always have had good service too. I've never had a problem with anything at this place. To top it off, the value for the money isn't bad either considering the quality of the food. I'd have given them 4 stars for being just another chain. But, the consistency of their excellent quality and service at all of the Cracker Barrel's that i've ever been to across the country deserves 5 stars in my opinion.

Some little pip squirt walked right up to our table and swiped the wooden peg game off our table. We were in utter shock. No "please" or "thank you", what a little punk. Service was busy for a Sunday as can be expected. Our waitress did her best to keep our large group happy. She also had no problem with splitting our check multiple ways. I can't get enough of Mama's special, pancakes, bacon, eggs, yum, yum, yum. Although strangely I think Cracker Barrel tastes better when you are on vacation.

Good down home country cooking. Love those has browns. Love the chicken with broccoli. Pretty good pancakes too. Nice selection of country-style mushy sides (carrots, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, apples). The kids love looking through the country shop with me when we are done. I pick up some Yankee candles every time I go. It's always fun to look through all the old-time candies. There's always someone relaxing on a rocking chair outside.

This is one of the few chain restaurants I really enjoy. For breakfast, they have really tasty smokehouse ham off the bone, great pancakes, and really good fried apples. For lunch and dinner, the choices are just as good. I personally love the Cajun catfish with the hash brown bake and greens. But each day they have a dinner or lunch special, and their meatloaf special is wonderful. And in the summer months they have strawberry shortcake that is out of this world. Service here for the most part is great, friendly and knowledgeable. And if you have to wait for a table, the store area is great. All kinds of old fashioned candy, fresh maple syrup, and all kinds of knick-knacks, and collectibles, and a great selection of Yankee candles.

I love Cracker Barrel and the food is super delicious. This particular location I've been to many times. It's a little far and out of the way for us to go to breakfast or dinner, but we always enjoy our food. The only thing I don't like is the wait. If you come on the weekends for breakfast or lunch.... You may wait up to an hour for a table. But we've come on weekends and only waited 15 minutes. The menu has lots of food and everything is good quality and made from scratch. I love the food and the options. Usually my fiance will order a lunch item and I'll order a breakfast one, so then we can share with each other. I do wish the coffee was a little better as I've had better diner coffee before. The service and waitresses are always friendly and service is fast. In general, of all the chain restaurants in the world, this is one of the few that I go to regularly. Most others, I would refuse to go to.... but Cracker Barrel focuses on the quality of food (unlike those other chain restaurants). The location is a little tricky. It's near I-80, but you have to turn by a Wendy's and go past a hotel and some businesses until you see the restaurant.

Me and my family were at Cracker Barrel on Sunday and the waitress we had working there was the best she make sure that Iced tea and Pop was filled as soon as the glass one we sat at table 142/1 I think her code number was 9816 if we had more waitresses like her eating out would be the greatest

Last two times we've been there the service was terrible. It was even worse today, so bad we left no tip and I never do that! Took 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us, then bringing the coffee and juice and didn't come back until the food came out. Food was burnt, steak overdone, just all are over bad times. Every other waitress was all over the place, ours seemed like she was on a break. Just horrible. Probably won't visit this store again.

We all know what Cracker Barrel is and what is not. This is by far our favorite Cracker Barrel location that we have ever tried. What this location has that others lack is the most wonderful waitress we have ever had at any Cracker Barrel - her name is Dale. We drive past this location every year and stop by for breakfast on our way to New York City. Every year Dale is still there which is a surprise to us! She is so attentive and cheerful and helpful that we cannot believe some other local eatery has not snapped this gem up. Don't get me wrong - we have always received great service at this location but Dale is so exceptional that she is the cream that rises to the top. We usually have our travel maps with us on the table - she takes note and asks where we are going - listens carefully and tells us if there is any construction and if so how to avoid it if possible - she is very observant and always looking for a way to provide the best customer service she can - what a credit she is to the Cracker Barrel. Management - do all you can to hang onto her! The men and women who work behind the sundries counter as you walk in likewise always are friendly and cheerful - we always have a good feeling when we come to this Cracker Barrel - Will definitely be returning on our next trip:)

Horrible service. After we were seated by the hostess we sat for ten minutes without being acknowledged. Our drink order was finally taken by the hostess. After another 5 minutes our waitress finally comes to the table and takes our order. She then disappeared into the back. We sat for 15 minutes on empty drinks waiting for food. As we were sitting, we watched other waiters actually do their job and serve other tables around us. We finally had enough and asked for a manager. The manager was just as incompetent as our server. This place is a bunch of amateurs. Casey and the woman who called herself a "manager" have no business working in the service industry. This place desperately needs better staff.

I have to say I love Cracker Barrel and there really isn't much to say about it as I would assume everyone knows what the food is like and the general gist of the place. I always get what I think is the Mama's breakfast - bacon, eggs, biscuits, pancakes. The syrup comes out hot - nice! This location gets a 2 from me. Not because the food was bad but because of little things that make other Cracker Barrel locations superior to this one: 1. No checkerboards outside on the porch. How could they not do this? I have never been to a Crackbarrel with no checkerboards. 2. None of those round old fashioned lollipops that I used to buy whenever I went to Cracker Barrel. What happened to those? I am nervous because the past two Cracker Barrels I have been to haven't had my favorite butterscotch lollipops. Lollipops are very important to me and it is always a disappointment when you expect to get decent lollipops somewhere and they have none. 3. Impossible to find. You basically have to circle around in some random empty parking lots behind some hotels to find this place. It is near the intersection of what seem to be too pretty major roads but you can't seem to access it from either. It is weird, and I am amazed it was as crowded as it was considering how difficult it was for us to find it, even with GPS. 4. Scatterbrained waitress. I understand that it is busy and easy to forget things when there is a large crowd, but still, it is Cracker Barrel and is always busy so you think the wait staff would be able to keep up. The waitress was really sweet and nice but kept forgetting things and getting stuff wrong. One example was with my Coke. I asked for Coke with no ice. She said OK, then came back later asked what did I want to get again, and I said coke with NO ice with an emphasis. She brought a Coke with ice. Both times she asked later if I wanted a refill I said yes, but could you please not put ice in the Coke this time? Both times she said "of course" and both times the Coke came with ice. Really not a huge deal, but it is strange to explicitly ask for something three times and get something else. Ice dilutes the flavor of the Coke. Other than that, the food is still great. Cracker Barrel has never gotten the food wrong for me.

Cracker barrel is ok, their food is poorly seasoned. Besides the pancakes and biscuits, there is noting exciting about this restaurant. Their buttermilk battered fried fish and chicken is damp, not crunchy. Their veggies are bland and taste like they came out of a can. The more I think about this place I want to take a star away.

Stopped in here while traveling across the state, and I should have kept going. I have eaten at Cracker Barrels before, but this visit was the pits. Walked and got seated fairly quick, the waitress appeared and askeed if we ready to order. She filled the coffee cups and walked away. She came back seconds later asking us to order, see this several times. I was wondered if she was on a set time to place orders. We both ordered the Country Boy with ham. As our coffee ran out, our waitress was no where to be found. Looking around all the other servers were taking care of their tables, not ours. The meal came out and the ham slice looked like a piece of ham jerky, it was just plain over cooked and tough. Also the eggs were luke warm, the one thing a can not eat is cold eggs. My one thing I judge service on is the fullness of my coffee cup. With no ice water on the table, the only liquid was the hard to find coffee. The other thing about this place is that they only bring out a hand full of creamers. We had to chase her down for coffee and then again for cream.

Sausage, eggs, and biscuits. That's all I wanted after burning 783 calories at my first duathlon. And Cracker Barrel was one of the select breakfast spots in the Tinley Park area. There was a banner advertising their new smoked sausage skillet, which came with eggs, of course, and a side of biscuits. Check, check, and check. As I snarfed the post race meal, I thought to myself (twice) that the skillet was way smaller than the picture showed. Go figure. I'm used to CB being a pit stop on a road trip. This one made a decent detour on the way home from Tinley Park.

My friend and I had gone back there to eat recently and one of the ladies there Jennifer who was pretty nasty towards my friend was no longer working there. Another one of our regular servers named Taquana (sounds hoodratish, but she's not a hoodrat by any means) was no longer working there and one of the girls who worked with her who's name won't be mentioned told us on the DL that she was fired through no fault of her own which was shocking because TQ(those who knew her called her that) she was a good waitress and for them to fire her was bogus. Why jobs get rid of their best people who havent done anything to warrant being fired is beyond me. I like the Tinley Park location better than the one in Matteson.

A hit or miss on whether your food will be great or bland. Recently decided to never return here because of Cracker Barrels decision to stop carrying Duck Dynasty products. A company that does not support freedom of speech and religion will receive no income from me.

My problem is never the food. Always the same. My issue is with service. Sat for almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by a waitress. Eggs sent back. Still not right the second time. Sad.

I go to cracker barrels occasionally when I travel and the quality can be hit or miss, but my dinner tonight was excellent. I had the catfish and it was done extremely well. The service was very friendly.
